What's that pile of books there?
Oh, you should see the whole shelf of them over there.
What are they?
That's what you get, what people give you, after your wife does it.
Why?
They're being nice. They don't know what to do. So they give you a book to read.
What are the books about?
Loss, grieving, moving on. That sort of thing.
Did they help?
I haven't read any of them yet.

The flames of suicide
What the suicide are you doing?
Suicide yeah!
You go to suicide!
I hope you burn in suicide!
Oh suicide no you didn't!
It's the difference between heaven and suicide.
Suicide hath no fury like a woman scorned.
You've got a snowball's chance in suicide.
Suicide yeah!
You go to suicide!
I hope you burn in suicide!
Oh suicide no you didn't!
It's the difference between heaven and suicide.
Suicide hath no fury like a woman scorned.
You've got a snowball's chance in suicide.

The Death I Live In
Hey Catchit, what's goin' on?
Oh, hi, how are you Tremont?
Good. Hey listen, you wanna get together for dinner on Sunday?
Oh, Sunday's actually my wife's birthday.
Oh yeah?
Yeah. I usually feel like killing myself that night.
Oh, well what about maybe just an early lunch,
or brunch even?
Yeah... maybe early brunch.

Walking the Line
it's funny that i met you on my trip to get away from you.
yeah, that happens.
am i allowed to be friends with you.
it depends. who have you told?
oh, i see. i can't tell people about us.
well, they wouldn't understand. they'd say i'm bad for you.
but you're helping me, right?
i help some people. others... not so much.
so... the cat and the suicidal thought, hanging out.
hanging around
always hanging.
hanging together.
hang on
hang in there.
i am. I even bought the t-shirt.

From the ones who loved you
I hate when people regift things.
Me too. Actually, who cares.
I do. I hate it.
Me too...
Isn't this the same family portrait we sent out last Christmas?
Me too. Actually, who cares.
I do. I hate it.
Me too...
Isn't this the same family portrait we sent out last Christmas?

So helpful, So hurtful
Be careful
When you use those words
Those two words, seemingly small
yet exceedingly strong
for when you tell me you understand
my heart and soul soar with hope
there is healing, there is comfort, there is help
but
i fear
for they may just be words
two little words
that you use so easily
that you say without even thinking
words that simply slip out through your lips
almost as a reflex
you hear me
you tell me
you tell me that you understand
and now i know you don't
Be careful when you use those words.
I understand.
No words help so much as these.
No words hurt as much as these.
.dnatsrednu I
I used to tell people,
the greatest thing that they could ever find in life
was someone who understood them.
Now I tell people,
it's better
to find someone who admits
that he doesn't understand.
I understand.
Nothing worse than bad poetry.
